What this product is
A module-level inverter for small photovoltaic arrays. One unit handles up to two panels, provided both face the same direction. Because it carries a single MPPT tracker, panels in differing orientations or under uneven shading will not be tracked independently — for split arrays, a dual-MPPT unit is the better choice.
The integrated radio is the practical difference from earlier Hoymiles units. Production data goes straight to the app from the inverter, so there is no gateway sitting between the two.
What this product is not
This listing is for the microinverter on its own. It is a component part of a photovoltaic installation. It is not a certified plug-in solar kit, and buying it does not by itself give you something you can lawfully plug into a socket.
To have a working system you also need panels, a mounting solution, and — for socket connection — a complete kit that meets the requirements set out below.
UK compliance — read before ordering
From 27 August 2026, SI 2026/848 permits a compliant plug-in solar kit of up to 800 W AC to be connected through a standard 13A socket. "Compliant" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. As currently drafted, it means the kit meets the government's Interim Product Specification, uses an approved plug arrangement, and appears on the ENA G98 Type Test Register.
Three things follow from that, and we would rather say them plainly than leave them in the small print:
-
The register applies to complete kits, not to individual components. A microinverter cannot itself be listed. So this product on its own cannot be a compliant kit, whatever date you buy it on.
-
Before 27 August 2026, socket connection is not permitted. If you are buying now, you are buying a component to hold or to have professionally installed as part of a fixed installation.
-
You must notify your DNO under G98. This applies to the connect-and-notify route, with notification submitted after connection. The window is [[TO CONFIRM: confirm the applicable notification period with the DNO / ENA before stating a figure]].
We will list our compliant kits under Kits once they are registered. Until then, we are not going to tell you this box is plug and play, because it is not.
Where you intend a fixed installation rather than a socket connection, that is work for a qualified electrician and falls under the usual Building Regulations and BS 7671 requirements.
What you need to complete a system
-
1–2 solar panels, 320–520 W, mounted in the same orientation
-
A mounting system suited to your surface — balcony rail, flat-roof ballast, or wall
-
Panel-to-inverter cabling and, where applicable, an AC connection lead
-
A DNO notification once the system is connected
Our Kits collection pairs the inverter with panels and mounting as a single order. If you are assembling your own configuration and want a second opinion on compatibility, ask us before you buy.
Monitoring
The S-Miles Cloud app shows per-inverter output, daily and cumulative yield, and fault reporting. Setup runs over Bluetooth for commissioning, then Wi-Fi for ongoing reporting, so the unit needs to sit within range of your home network.
Output and running costs
We would rather give you the arithmetic than a headline number.
Annual generation from an 800 W array depends on your location, roof or balcony orientation, tilt, shading and the weather in any given year. The value you get from it depends on your tariff and, more importantly, on how much of that generation your household actually uses while it is being produced — electricity you export without an export agreement earns you nothing.
To estimate your own figure:
annual generation (kWh) × proportion self-consumed × your unit rate (p/kWh) = annual value
[[TO CONFIRM: agree a defensible kWh/kWp figure for UK conditions, and a self-consumption assumption, before publishing any worked example or payback claim. Both must appear on the page next to the number, per DMCCA 2024. Do not publish a payback period without them.]]
Warranty and your rights
Hoymiles provide a 12-year manufacturer warranty on this unit. Warranty terms are set by the manufacturer and registration may be required — [[TO CONFIRM: registration requirement and process]].
Separately, and in addition, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Those rights sit with us as the seller and are not affected by anything in the manufacturer's warranty.
Delivery and collection
The microinverter ships as a parcel. Panels do not — they travel by pallet, and that cost is shown from the first price you see, not added at checkout.
Free collection from our Birmingham collection point: Northside Business Centre, Wellington Street, Birmingham B18 4NR. No pallet charge on collected orders. Bring photo ID and your order number. Collection hours: [[TO CONFIRM — Phase 0]]. Orders held for [[TO CONFIRM]].

About Solarfy
Solarfy Ltd is the UK arm of a group that has been trading in photovoltaics in Germany since 2022. Across that time our German sister company, solucon technologies GmbH, has handled more than 10,000 orders across its full product range — modules, inverters, battery storage, balcony systems and accessories.
That gives us buying relationships and product knowledge. It does not transfer any regulatory status: German approvals carry no weight in the UK, and every product we sell here has to stand on its own UK compliance. We think that distinction matters enough to state it rather than blur it.
Our German sister company holds a 4.6 out of 5 rating from 61 reviews on Trustpilot. Those reviews are for solucon technologies GmbH (solucontech.com), not for Solarfy Ltd — Solarfy is newly established in the UK and has not yet accumulated its own reviews. You can read them at https://de.trustpilot.com/review/solucontech.com
