Solarfy Duo 910 – Plug-in Solar Kit 910 W | ENA Registered | Garden & Flat Roof

Make your own electricity, straight from the garden. The Solarfy Duo is a complete plug-in solar system: two full-black 455 W panels, a Hoymiles microinverter and a free-standing ballast frame. Set it up on your lawn, patio or flat roof, plug it into an ordinary socket, and your fridge, router, washing machine and everything else on standby start running on your own sunshine first. There's no roof work and no installer, and you won't wait weeks for a quote.

At a glance

• 910 Wp of solar, up to 800 VA into your home. That's the maximum the UK rules allow for plug-in solar, and two panels keep the inverter close to that limit for longer each day.
• Around 690–830 kWh a year of indicative UK generation from a south-facing site.
• Plug in and go. Plug-in solar has been legal for DIY installation in Great Britain since 27 August 2026, provided the product and the installation meet the rules. This kit was built to meet them.

What could it save you?

Every unit of solar you use at home is a unit you don't buy from your supplier. With the Duo, most households use around half to three quarters of what it generates. The rest flows back to the grid.

Estimates are based on the Ofgem price cap unit rate for October–December 2026 (26.32p/kWh, direct debit, GB average) and assume no change in electricity prices. Your actual saving depends on your location, orientation, shading, weather, tariff and how much electricity you use during the day. Running the washing machine, dishwasher or tumble dryer in daylight increases how much of your solar you use yourself.

How it works

The panels turn daylight into DC power. The Hoymiles microinverter, mounted on the frame, converts it into 230 V mains power and feeds it through the supplied UK plug into your socket. Your appliances use that power first, and any surplus flows back out to the grid. Nothing is stored. If the grid goes down, the inverter switches off within a fraction of a second. That's a required safety feature, and it means the system produces nothing during a power cut. You can follow what your system generates, live and over time, in the Hoymiles app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

You'll need a free area of about 3.65 × 1.13 m with open sky to the south. The Duo is not designed for balcony railings, walls, façades or pitched roofs.

Not included: ballast. The frame is held down by weight, so you'll need 100–160 kg of concrete slabs or ballast blocks per panel (200–320 kg for the Duo), depending on how exposed your site is. Standard paving slabs from any builders' merchant do the job, and the instructions include a simple table showing which figure applies to you.

Before you order

Plug-in solar is simple, and the rules are there for good reasons. Please check that:

• You have a socket on a circuit protected by a working RCD or RCBO. An outdoor socket should be weatherproof (IP66) and fitted by an electrician.
• No other plug-in solar device is, or will be, connected in your household.
• The lead can reach the socket directly. Extension leads and adaptors are not allowed.
• You have room for the 3.65 × 1.13 m footprint with open sky to the south.
• If you rent, or own a leasehold flat, you have written permission from your landlord or freeholder.

After installing, you notify your network operator (DNO) within 28 days. It's a short online form, and the instructions walk you through it. It's also worth letting your home insurer know.

FAQ

Do I need an electrician?
Not for the installation itself, as long as your socket circuit already has RCD protection. If it doesn't, or you want a new outdoor socket, that part is a job for a registered electrician.

What do I need to set it up?
A second person, a spirit level, a tape measure and the two spanners in the box. The panels weigh 22 kg each and need two people to lift, and the step-by-step picture guide covers the rest.

Do I get paid for the electricity I export?
Don't count on it. Export payments under the Smart Export Guarantee usually require an MCS-certified installation, which a self-installed plug-in kit is not. The savings above therefore only count the solar you use yourself.

Can I add a battery?
No. Under the current UK rules this kit must not be connected to or used with battery storage.

Can I put it on my balcony or wall?
No. The Duo is designed for ground and flat-roof installation only.

Solo or Duo?
The Duo generates roughly twice as much as the Solo and makes full use of the 800 VA limit. Choose the Solo if space is tight or your daytime usage is low.

When will my pre-order ship?

How much is delivery?
Delivery cost depends on your postcode, because the panels travel as a large, heavy item. You'll see the exact price at checkout before you pay.

How can I check the kit is compliant?
Look it up on the ENA Connect Direct register under SOLAW/21608/V1 (link above). Your network operator uses the same register when you notify them.
