- We assume 70% of what you generate is used in your home as it is generated.

- Electricity you generate but don't use is not paid for, so it isn't counted here.

Is plug-in solar legal in the UK?
From 27 August 2026, UK regulations allow complete, compliant plug-in solar kits to be connected through a standard socket. Whatever your setup, you must notify your electricity network operator (DNO) under G98 — we explain how on our compliance page.
